Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

ASSESSMENT

What is the Business Performance Score?

A score out of 100 that summarises how your business is performing across five core areas. It’s calculated from your answers to 15 targeted questions and gives you a single number to benchmark against, plus a breakdown showing which areas are strongest and which are dragging you down.

About 5 minutes. Fifteen multiple-choice questions, no data entry, no documents required. Your free report is generated instantly when you finish.

Nothing. You don’t need financial statements, reports, or figures — every question is answerable from what you already know about your business.

Established business owners who feel their business should be more profitable than it is. It works best for businesses with staff, some operating history, and revenue roughly between $250k and $5M+ — trades and services, retail and e-commerce, health and wellness, professional services, manufacturing, hospitality plus many more.

Less so. Several questions assume you have operating history, customers, and ideally staff to draw on. A pre-revenue or first-year business can still complete it, but the diagnosis will be less useful than for an established operation.

No. Complete the assessment and your free report is generated immediately and can be emailed to you.

Yes. Many owners retake it after making changes to see whether their score has moved.

No. The assessment is only as useful as it is honest. The most valuable reports come from owners who answered candidly about what isn’t working.

SCORING

How is my score calculated?

Each of the 15 questions is scored from 1 to 4 points based on the answer you select. Those points are grouped into five categories, each producing a percentage score, and those combine into your overall Business Performance Score out of 100.

Profit — pricing, margins, and whether your effort is translating into money. Sales & Marketing — how reliably you generate new customers. Customer Experience — the consistency and quality of what customers actually receive. Trust, Value & Referrals — whether customers choose you for reasons beyond price, and whether they recommend you. Systems & Technology — how much of the business depends on you personally versus documented processes.

Scores fall into bands. Broadly: a lower score signals a business carrying real risk and leaking profit in several areas; a mid-range score like 60 signals a business with a solid foundation and clear, addressable opportunities; a high score signals a business that’s structurally sound with narrower areas to refine. Your report explains which band you’re in and why.

A high score means fewer critical leaks, not zero opportunity. Even strong businesses usually have one or two areas worth tightening — the report will show you which, and what they’re worth.

It’s structured, not objective. The score is built from your own self-assessment across five areas — it turns your judgement into something measurable and comparable, but it isn’t an external audit. The more candid your answers, the more accurate it is.

Fifteen questions across five categories is deep enough to identify meaningful patterns without becoming a chore.

Yes — each question contributes equally within its category. Some issues (like owner-dependency) carry more consequence than others, and the report reflects that through issue priority rather than through the score itself.

FINANCIAL ESTIMATES

How is the estimated opportunity calculated?

Your report shows the full calculation. It starts from a revenue figure based on the range you selected, then applies modelling assumptions to three areas — uncaptured pricing, operational drag from owner-dependent delivery, and lost repeat and referral revenue — scaled by how you scored in each relevant category. Every assumption and every step is printed in the report so you can check the logic yourself.

No. It’s a directional estimate based on modelling assumptions, not a forecast, a projection, or a promise of results. It’s designed to show you the scale of what’s likely being left on the table, not to predict an exact number.

So you can complete the assessment in five minutes without pulling out your accounts. The report states the revenue band you selected and the illustrative midpoint used in the calculation, so it’s always clear the figure is modelled from a range rather than your exact books.

That’s useful information, and the report is built so you can check it. Every assumption is visible — if one doesn’t fit your business, you can mentally adjust the figure. The value is in identifying where the leaks are, more than in the precise dollar total.

They’re industry-neutral modelling assumptions applied consistently across all reports, not figures specific to your sector.

No. It’s an operational diagnostic estimating revenue and margin opportunity, not a financial statement analysis. It doesn’t see your tax position, debt, or balance sheet.

BUSINESS PROFIT BLUEPRINT

What does the $199 Blueprint contain?

A full diagnosis for every issue your assessment triggered — what’s happening, why, a prescription, a recommended tool, and a matching business example for each. Plus a “Your Three Weakest Areas” section giving the root cause, a 48-hour action, and a longer-term system upgrade for each; the complete financial breakdown with all assumptions shown; and an appendix of your own answers for reference.

The free report tells you what is wrong — your score, your category breakdown, your top issues by name, the financial estimate, and one worked example of a weakness. The Blueprint tells you why each issue is happening, what it’s costing you, exactly what to do about it, and how other businesses have fixed the same thing.

The issues in your report are triggered specifically by your answers — different answers produce a genuinely different report, with different diagnoses, priorities, and dollar figures.

Yes. Each diagnosis includes a named, practical tool or template suited to that specific fix.

Around 20+ pages, depending on how many issues your assessment triggers.

Immediately. It’s generated on purchase and available to download straight away.

A downloadable PDF you can keep, print, or share with your accountant, business partner, or management team.

It’s a starting point built from the data you provided, not a verdict. You know your business better than any assessment does — the report is designed to prompt a closer look and offer a fresh perspective, not to replace your judgement.

No. It’s an operational diagnostic, not accounting, financial, or legal advice. It’s designed to identify where to focus, not to replace professional advice on your specific circumstances.

All prices are in AUD unless stated otherwise.
